Have you ever thought about what your online profiles say about you? What do all your social media platforms represent of you? from Linkedin, Facebook, Instagram, Google+, Twitter, Pinterest and whatever else you are on. What is the picture you get of who you are?
This is all your personal branding. And here are 3 really good reasons why you should make a better effort to create your personal brand.
1. Brand Recognition
If you are an entrepreneur, a solopreneur, you’ve gotta face it, you are your brand. Chances are you will need to be using the internet to market and sell your product or services. Your business will ultimately reflect who you are. So creating a personal brand that people resonate with is SUPER important to your business.
If you don’t know what your brand is check out the 3 questions you should ask yourself.
I can’t emphasize how important this is, even if you think you do not have a business yet. Creating a personal brand is so much more than a logo, a tagline, or an offering. It is about what you want to be known for. It is about who you are and in fact is the first step in helping you define what your freedom business is.
Before I even got started with my business, defining my personal brand was the first thing I did. I knew that whatever business I launched in whatever format or offerings, it all reflected back to who I was and what I wanted to be known for. I wanted my brand to reflect integrity, honesty, change making, and freedom. By offering value and tips in these areas, I created brand recognition for myself. The business side of things, my services and offerings, were then developed around my brand, not the other way around.
Brand recognition comes as you keep providing value to your audience
Brand recognition requires consistency so people can get to know you.
2. Brand Trust
People buy from people they know, like and trust. By creating a personal brand and brand recognition you can start to build trust. You can be known for being that yogi with the candle obsession and start to make product recommendations. If you build your brand recognition by putting yourself out there and being consistent online, people will start to get to know you. Once they like you and trust you, you start to be able to make recommendations or sell your product or services.
3. Meet New Connections
There’s no better way to meet new people or get new customers than to have a brand that they are attracted to. When you are interesting and you provide value, people will want to connect with you and follow your advice. How many times have you found people ask you where you got that or how you did that? Your personal brand attracted them somehow and they wanted to know more. Similarly for your business you can attract customers to you by having a powerful personal brand.
But don’t be anything less than authentic. Just be you but clarify what that is and be consistent. Your brand can really help you attract the right customers to you.
Putting some personality behind your brand is important but it’s often intimidating to put yourself out there, especially as an introvert. Often what it comes down to is a few mindset blocks that keep people from getting more visible. Whether its confidence in your abilities or clarity in your message, these are all things I work with my clients on to help them overcome their visibility mindset blocks and allow them to show up as authentically them and build a brand that attracts their target customers.
